Who We Are
For 150 years, American Humane Society has been a leader in animal welfare, working to rescue, care for and protect animals wherever and whenever they are in need.
As the first national humane organization in the United States, we advance the humane treatment of animals through rescue, science-based certification programs, global conservation efforts and initiatives that champion the healing power of the human-animal bond.
From disaster response and military working dog reunifications to farm, zoo and film certifications and more, we help protect over one billion animals each year across the country and around the world.
