American Humane Association takes a great deal of pride in our training courses. It is our commitment to provide the highest quality education in the nation in the area of animal disaster response, euthanasia by injection and managing compassion stress.

We have decided that it is time for us to revamp our training program. We are going to take a few months off and focus on providing better options to meet training needs.

When classes are ready to be provided again we will have a new and improved training program that will offer you the training that you are requesting and various options for you to receive that training.

One of the important ways American Humane helps protect animals is by educating and training people how to provide the best animal care possible. Throughout the year, we host trainings nationwide for animal welfare professionals and for all people who love animals and want to make a difference in their well-being.

Basic Animal Emergency Services Training
If you want to become an official American Humane Red Star Animal Emergency Services™ Volunteer and help animals in the aftermath of national disasters, you must attend this two-day training.

Disaster Sheltering for Companion Animals
This two-day course focuses on how to plan for and implement emergency sheltering for companion animals during or after a disaster and should be considered “must-have” training for every community. 

Euthanasia By Injection
For both beginners and experienced shelter staff, this comprehensive two-day seminar covers the latest techniques, drugs and issues surrounding euthanasia by injection (EBI).

Managing Compassion Stress
Euthanizing the creatures you care about takes an emotional and physical toll. This one-day, intimate seminar reveals what compassion stress is and how it affects you.

Animal Rescue Training for First Responders
This course is designed to cross-train urban search and rescue teams, animal search and rescue and other first responders how to handle a situation or disaster together.

Animal Shelter Disaster Preparedness 
In this course, you will gain the skills to create and implement an effective disaster plan that fits into the larger disaster plan of your community, county and state.
