Petco Love Invests in Lifesaving Work of the American Humane Sanctuary

Grant of $30,000 will help promote hope and healing at the American Humane Sanctuary in Palm Beach, Florida

WASHINGTON, DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, April 4, 2022American Humane, the country’s first national humane organization, today announced a $30,000 grant investment from Petco Love to support its lifesaving work at the American Humane Sanctuary, a unique rescue retreat for animals, veterans and animal advocates in Palm Beach, Florida.

“As we continue to lead the way in the compassion movement, we are extending our hand to more of those in need right here in southern Florida,” said Dr. Robin Ganzert. “The grant from Petco Love is helping us create this special humane space that will be a healing haven to animals in greatest need and a place of hope for our nation’s veterans.”

The American Humane Sanctuary is a transformational rescue retreat for those in greatest need – where people and animals alike can find hope, healing and rejuvenation in beautiful, warm and welcoming surroundings. This refuge provides top-notch facilities and caring animal experts to meet the needs of animals rescued from disasters, cruelty cases or in need of a forever loving home. Here, families can meet their animal companions in a happy and serene home environment, setting the stage for successful, permanent adoptions.

The sanctuary will also uniquely draw on the power of the human-animal bond to help veterans suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress and Traumatic Brain Injury through its famed Pups4Patriots™ program. At the sanctuary, veterans who have graduated from the Pups4Patriots™ program will find not only a comfortable oasis to seek peace, but a home where they and their service dog can further their journey together and meet other veteran teams who are on the same path. These connections provide critical healing opportunities that in our veterans’ words, “expand their families and give them comfort like no other.”
