American Humane Names Dr. Tom Edling as Chief Veterinary Officer & Animal Ethicist

WASHINGTON, DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, July 17, 2023 — Today, American Humane announced that Dr. Tom Edling’s position at the organization will expand to Chief Veterinary Officer and Animal Ethicist. Previously, Edling served as American Humane’s Chief Veterinary Officer, and before that, the organization’s Chief Veterinary Advisor for the iconic “No Animals Were Harmed®” program.

With over a quarter century of high-level veterinary experience, Dr. Edling is considered one of the nation’s leading experts in the care of non-traditional companion animals, animal ethics and zoonotic disease transmission.

“American Humane is thrilled to be able to expand Dr. Tom Edling’s role within the organization to Chief Veterinary Officer and Animal Ethicist,” said Dr. Robin Ganzert, President and CEO of American Humane. “Dr. Edling’s years of expertise and deep compassion for animals makes him the ideal fit for the position. His promotion will help reinforce American Humane’s leadership in the movement to make the world a kinder place for animals.”

“I am honored and excited to continue my work with American Humane as Chief Veterinary Officer and Animal Ethicist,” said Dr. Tom Edling. “Animal welfare has always been my passion, and I look forward to working alongside the dedicated team at American Humane to make a meaningful impact in the lives of animals around the country, and the world.”
