Home What We Do Rescue and Protect Cruelty and Neglect

Rescuing and Supporting Animals Affected by Cruelty and Abuse

American Humane Society’s emergency rescue team works alongside local law enforcement as a trusted partner on large-scale animal cruelty investigations, including hoarding cases, puppy mills and organized dog fighting.

Second Chance® Grants for Shelters and Rescue Groups

Local shelters and rescue groups are often saddled with the steep expenses of saving, sheltering and caring for animals in desperate need. Our Second Chance Grant offers financial assistance to help offset the critical costs of rescued animals who are victims of human cruelty or neglect. These grants advance and facilitate the life-saving efforts that give animals a second chance at life when they have nowhere else to turn.
