What is the Escape from Extinction Documentary Series?
Escape from Extinction is an award-winning wildlife documentary series from Global Humane Society, the international arm of American Humane Society. The films explore the science, strategy and human effort behind protecting species on the brink of disappearing forever.
The series has two films with filming on the third currently underway. The original, narrated by Helen Mirren, examines the role of zoos and aquariums in species survival. The sequel, narrated by Meryl Streep, explores rewilding, a conservation strategy that restores ecosystems by reintroducing native species.
Both films feature breathtaking cinematography, leading conservation scientists and rare footage from around the world.
