Dear Friends,
Every day, animals change the world for the better, and every day, compassionate people step forward to change the world for them.
This Spring, I was reminded once again that hope often begins in the most unexpected places. Sometimes it begins with a tiny terrier named Thaniel, who was left shivering in the cold and survived unimaginable hardship and found healing through the kindness of rescuers, veterinarians and supporters like you. Sometimes it begins with a remarkable Hero Dog named Bo, whose determination helped bring a missing child home safely during a dangerous winter storm. And sometimes it begins with visionary conservationists and animal care experts who dedicate their lives to protecting animals, advancing veterinary medicine and safeguarding wildlife across the globe.
In the pages ahead, you will meet extraordinary people and animals whose stories embody the very heart of our mission. You will learn about groundbreaking conservation work to protect vulnerable species like the giant anteater, bold efforts to secure a future for rhinos across Africa and our dedicated Rescue team, who deployed in Texas to save over 75 dogs living in horrific conditions.
At American Humane Society, we believe every animal deserves to live a life free from suffering and filled with care and protection. None of this work happens alone. It happens because a community of people, supporters, partners, scientists, veterinarians, first responders and animal lovers, come together with a shared belief that animals matter.
