Spring 2025 Newsletter

Dear Friends,

As spring begins to bloom, I am reminded of the resilience and renewal that define both nature and the animals we cherish. At American Humane Society, I have seen firsthand the incredible strength of the human-animal bond, even in the face of adversity. This season, I am honored to share the remarkable ways your support has made a life-changing difference.

When devastating wildfires consumed parts of Los Angeles, our Rescue Team was on the ground, navigating through the fires and destruction to save animals in crisis. With a proud 85 years of history in Los Angeles through our No Animals Were Harmed™ program and an American Humane Society office in the city, we were uniquely positioned to mobilize quickly. We worked alongside local authorities to search for lost pets, provided welfare checks, and helped ensure shelter-in-place animals were safe and cared for. Thanks to your generosity, we also airlifted over 340 adoptable shelter pets to safety, making room for displaced animals waiting to be reunited with their families. Your support made it possible for our team to offer vital wellness clinics, provide essential veterinary care, and deliver emergency supplies to families who had lost everything.

Our mission extended beyond disaster relief. We were honored to reunite retired Military Working Dog Frenky with his devoted handler, U.S. Army Ssg. Kristin in February. After years of dedicated service—including combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan—Frenky is finally home, enjoying the retirement he so deserves, with lifelong veterinary care provided by American Humane Society. Stories like Frenky’s are a testament to the unbreakable bond between heroes—both two- and four-legged.

And in a moment of celebration for humane filmmaking, I am thrilled to share that our No Animals Were Harmed™ program certified Wicked, Nickel Boys, Nosferatu and Gladiator 2, the Oscar-nominated films that captured the attention of audiences worldwide. This achievement spotlights our unwavering commitment to animal actors, working to ensure they are treated with the care and compassion they deserve.

Every success story we share is made possible because of you—our dedicated supporters, advocates and animal lovers. Whether it’s rescuing pets from disaster, reuniting military heroes, or championing humane treatment in entertainment, your kindness fuels our mission to rescue, care for and protect every animal. Together, we are creating a world where species of all kinds are respected, protected and loved.

Please enjoy our Spring Newsletter with more stories of compassion and humane care toward the animals we love. Thank you for being a vital part of this journey and standing with us in the fight for a more humane world.

Sincerely,
Robin R. Ganzert, Ph.D.
President and CEO
