Producer Spotlight
Springer Mountain Farms was the very first major poultry producer in the country to become American Humane Certified™, 25 years ago. We spoke with them to learn more about their mission and dedication to animal welfare.
Tell us a little bit about Springer Mountain Farms – its history and mission
For more than 25 years, Springer Mountain Farms has been rooted in the mountains of Northeast Georgia, where a deep respect for the land, animals and community shapes everything we do. From the beginning, our focus has been on doing things the right way—raising chickens with care and producing food families can feel good about. Today, that same commitment continues to guide us, as we work to provide high-quality poultry while supporting the people and communities that make it all possible.
Tell us why and how your company puts the humane treatment of animals at the forefront of your business
At Springer Mountain Farms, animal welfare isn’t just a part of our business, it’s part of our story. We’ve built long-standing relationships with local family farmers, many of whom come from generations of farming families who take great pride in how they care for their animals. That shared sense of responsibility and stewardship is at the heart of everything we do. We believe that raising animals with care and respect leads to better outcomes for the animals, for our farmers and for the families who bring our products to their tables. It’s a philosophy that has guided us for decades and continues to shape how we move forward.
Why do you value American Humane certification and how does it set you apart from other producers in your field?
This certification reinforces what we’ve always believed, that doing the right thing should be verified and transparent, and working with an independent organization provides that added level of trust and accountability. The certification helps tell our story in a way that’s clear and credible. It shows that our commitment to animal welfare isn’t just something we say, it’s something that’s independently verified. In a crowded marketplace, that level of transparency helps set us apart and builds trust with consumers who are looking for products that align with their values.
Being American Humane Certified helps ensure that our values are consistently reflected in our practices. It gives our customers confidence that the care we talk about is real, measurable and meaningful.

How has your company evolved to meet changing consumer tastes and an increase interest in humane certified products?
Over the years, we’ve seen a growing interest from consumers who want to understand more about where their food comes from and how it’s produced. We’ve evolved by leaning into that transparency, sharing more of our story, strengthening our commitments and continuing to listen to what matters most to the families we serve.
American Humane Certified plays an important role in that journey. It gives consumers a simple, trusted way to recognize products that meet high standards of care. We hope it helps them feel confident in their choices and encourages them to support brands that prioritize doing things the right way.
Is there anything else you would like consumers to know about your company?
We’re proud to be a company built on relationships—relationships with our farmers, our communities and the families who trust us to feed theirs. That trust means everything to us. It’s why we continue to focus on transparency, integrity and continuous improvement in everything we do.
