Xeno (2025)

When a fearless teenage girl stumbles upon a mysterious alien crash-landed in the desert near her home, she discovers that it’s not the kind of extraterrestrial she expected—it’s powerful, unpredictable, and on the run. As government agents close in, she must protect her new otherworldly friend while uncovering a secret that could change the fate of both their worlds.

Detailed Animal Action Report

In the scene where the huntsman drives into desert with the dog in the passenger’s seat, the trainer was hidden in the passenger area of the truck during filming. The dog had rehearsal time in the truck prior to shoot to get comfortable with the movement and smells. During the filming, the truck never actually moved. When the huntsman gets out of the truck and ties the deer to the truck, production rented a dead deer from a taxidermist and provided us with the receipt.

When we see the dog get out of the car and sprint across the desert and into the crater, the trainers brought the dog and placed him in the car, as the trainer leaned down on the passenger’s side. On action, the actor cut the engine and got out of the truck, while the trainer inside released the dog and the dog ran to a trainer standing off camera.

In the scene where the actress brings the alien to the desert and shows him a handful of pigs cornered near rocks and the alien eats the pigs, which is off-camera and completely implied, wranglers brought the pigs to the set by truck. Prior to releasing the pigs, the wranglers set up a chute which would lead the pigs from set and back into the trailer. The pigs were released from the truck and into the desert area on their mark. The wranglers then scattered feed and walked off. One wrangler was hidden behind the pigs, up the canyon while the other two were in front of the pigs, between the pigs and the crew.

Due to late notification, American Humane Society did not monitor the reptile action.
