Thing Called Love, The (1993)
The Thing Called Love is the story of Maranda Presley and how she leaves New York to become a country singer/writer in Music City, Nashville. Maranda arrives in Nashville full of dreams and hopes of becoming a famous singer and writer. Her dreams are soon dashed as she realizes how competitive this field is. She meets another writer at her first audition at the Blue Bird Cafe, James Wright. James and Maranda don’t hit it off at first, but, after numerous auditions and as time goes by, they fall in love. We watch as these two go through the highlights and heartaches that go along with achieving success.
Animal actors in this production were monitored through American Humane Society’s No Animals Were Harmed® program.

Detailed Animal Action Report
Animal action is minimal. In one scene Maranda, James and their friend, Kyle, go to one of the local’s home and sneak out into the stable where Kyle rides a horse. The horse is not so keen on the idea and rears up, throwing Kyle to the ground. This was a trained rearing horse who followed his trainer’s hand and verbal commands. A stunt-man doubled for the actor. One of Maranda’s new friends has a pet dog who is present in several scenes. All of these animal scenes were simple. Growling sounds were added in post production.
