The Way Back
Detailed Animal Action Report
When we see goldfish in the lead actor’s son’s room, we were on set to make sure the goldfish were taken care of. The tank was setup with a biofilter and conditioned water. The fish was brought in a plastic bag and placed in a setup tank to acclimate to the temp of the tank. After they filmed the scene, they took the fish back to the store from where they were from.
In the scene where the actor drives down a residential road and stops in the road, with a line of geese crossing the street, production set up the placement of cars and the geese on the side of the road. On action, the trainers opened the pens and cued the geese to cross the road. The wranglers were on the edges of frame with nets in hand to guide the geese to the holding pens. The car never came close to the geese.
