The Night Before
Detailed Animal Action Report
In the scene where we see a reindeer standing in front of a sleigh, the animal wrangler was standing by at all times. The action was then reset and repeated. When the scene was finished, the reindeer was walked back to his trailer. Everything went well.
In the scene where the actors approach the carriage with two horses tied to it, the actors were prepped on how to approach the animals. When the actor is dragged down the street by the horse, a stuntman held the reins, while the trainer led the horse on a trot down the street. This took several takes. The horse never ran by himself.
In the scene where the actress throws the rat at the actor running after her and the actor falls down screaming with the rat crawling over him, the actress threw a fake rat on the actor. Then they cut and the trainer placed the real rat on the actor’s chest, who writhed and screamed. The rat was placed in a warm box between takes.
