In the scene where the girl is typing at her computer with her dog sitting in her lap, the actress and the dog were acquainted with each other prior to filming. The dog was fed and given water between takes.
In the scene where the little girl and the actor are driving and playing I Spy and the girl points to a man walking his dog on the sidewalk, trainers prepped the extra with the dog prior to filming. Production closed the street for filming, so all traffic was controlled.
In the scene in the park where we see an extra with a dog in the background, the dog was provided with shade and water between takes.
