Certified Animal Action Overview

No Animals Were Harmed™ carefully monitored every moment to ensure the dog’s safety and comfort were always the top priority. Before filming, a professional trainer walked the dog from the van to set on a leash, preparing him with gentle handling, using non-toxic jelly and dirt to create a “lived-in” look. During the scene, the dog was securely tied with a soft nylon rope that allowed him a few feet of relaxed movement, while all of his reactions were guided by the trainer’s voice cues. The interaction was designed to rely on the dog’s natural behaviors, with no distress or risk involved.

Detailed Animal Action Report

In the scene where we see a young girl approach a dog who’s tied to a tree and point a rifle at him, prior to filming the trainer walked dog from the van to set on leash. The trainers used a non-toxic jelly and dirt to make the dog’s fur look dirty. The trainer tied a nylon rope to dog’s collar and tied it to a tree, giving him some slack to move about. On action, the young girl approached the dog with the rifle. Off-camera the trainer gave dog commands to “speak,” which caused him to bark and to “watch” which cued him to look at the camera intently. After they shooting the scene, the trainer untied the rope from the dog’s collar and walked her back to their van.
