Serial Mom (1994)
This is the story of the obsessively “normal” family, Eugene and Beverly Sutphyn and their two children, Misty and Chip. Everything about this family is perfect in all respects with one exception,…Mom is a serial killer! Everything in the Sutphyn’s home life is cheery, fresh and clean, almost to the point of being too perfect. But, unbeknownst to the family, there is a dark side to Mom. Any time that any member of the family has a conflict or problem of any kind, Mom takes care of it. Unfortunately, she takes care of it by killing the problem person. The family starts to put two and two together and begins to follow Mom on her daily outings. Chip witnesses his mom killing a woman who was rude to her in the supermarket, just as the police arrive on the scene. Beverly is arrested, but insists she is innocent. Through a completely unrealistic “movie” trial, Beverly is declared innocent and is free once again. The question is, for how long?
Animal actors in this production were monitored through American Humane Society’s No Animals Were Harmed™ program.

Detailed Animal Action Report
Animal action is limited to two scenes. In one scene Beverly swats and crushes a pesky fly that is trying to partake of the family’s breakfast. This scene was shot in cuts. Both a live and a purchased dead fly were used. When you see the fly fly by, it was a live fly released by the insect handler. When you see the dead fly on the table, it was the purchased dead fly that was used. In the other scene, a mouse is shown attacking a woman’s leg. When the mouse is seen biting the woman’s leg, a fake mouse taped to the actress’ ankle was used. No real mouse was ever used. A dog chewing on a bone is also seen watching television with his owner.
