Certified Animal Action Overview
No Animals Were Harmed™ closely followed every moment of animal action in this film, helping turn magical scenes into reality while keeping every creature calm and cared for. During the dazzling stage illusion, the actress released two doves only after their trainer had gently placed them in her hands. Out in the desert, the camels and their handlers were positioned safely away from the arriving SUVs, strolling peacefully in the background before relaxing between takes. Throughout the production, every beat of the story was crafted with the animals’ well-being at the heart of the magic.
Detailed Animal Action Report
In the scene where there’s a large-scale magic show and we see one of the actors release a pair of doves on a large screen, they filmed an actress releasing a dove in a studio against a blue screen. Prior to shooting the scene, the trainer brought the cage with the doves to the studio and placed it in a dark and quiet corner near the blue screen area to ensure their safety. The actress stood in the middle of the room. The trainer then placed two doves into her hands, before moving behind the camera. The actress held the birds behind her back with her arms lowered. On action, the actress gently lifted her arms and released the doves towards the camera. The doves were immediately retrieved by the trainer,
In the scene where three SUV’s drive up to a building in a desert, passing a group of Bedouins with their camels in the background, prior to shooting, the camels were led to a spot on the side of the dune. On actin, the cars drove up the road and stopped in front of the hut. The camels and their owners walked from A to B at a safe distance from the cars. Between set-ups, the camels were allowed to lie down and rest. After wrapping, the camels were led back to the trailer. Once secured, the trainers departed with the animals.
