In the scene where the actors sit in a horse drawn carriage, the driver was adept at driving a horse-drawn carriage and was prepped by trainers prior to shooting.
In the scene where the actor approaches a lone horse standing in a field, then the horse runs away, as the actor approached the horse a trainer gave a command to the horse, which elicited a response. Then the trainer gives another command and the horse runs to the trainer.
