Certified Animal Action Overview

No Animals Were Harmed™ representatives closely monitored the animal action featured in this film, helping ensure that every scene involving animals was carried out with care and attention to their well-being. A parrot seen in the forest sequence was created entirely through visual effects. The dogs appearing in crowd and street scenes worked calmly under the supervision of their handlers, were brought to set only when needed and spent their downtime resting comfortably with access to food and water. Scenes were carefully planned so the dogs could perform natural behaviors in controlled environments, while large-scale action elements and creatures were added later through visual effects and CGI. Throughout production, the focus remained on creating a safe, comfortable experience for the animals while capturing realistic moments on screen.

Detailed Animal Action Report

In the scene where the actor wakes up in the forest, and sees a parrot on a perch, which flies away, the parrot was created through VFX.

In the scene where the two actors run towards a spaceship that’s in the middle of a park and is about to take off, we see a group of background actors, two of whom have dogs on leashes. Prior to filming, the trainers brought two dogs to the set. While not filming, the dogs were kept in a holding area to the side. The dogs were led by trainers and placed on their marks and given to owners playing people in a crowd. On action, the crowd surged forward towards a spaceship. One of the background handlers walked the dog to her mark, which was supposed to be a stop mark before the spaceship. After they filmed the scene, the background actors led the dogs back to their holding area where they were given food and water.

In the scene where the two actors walk down an empty street and they see a huge monster attacking a truck and there are two extras with dogs in the background, prior to filming, production talked to group of extras about where to stand, how to behave around dogs, etc. Prior to filming, all of the owners and their dogs remained in the holding area which was directly next to the area where filming was to occur. As they set up shots, the owners walked their dogs to their designated marks. On action, a camera car drove down the street filming the scene, which was at a safe distance from background actors and dogs. The rest of the scene was created through CGI in post production.
