Let It Ride
After Trotter, a cab driver, promises his wife he’ll never gamble again he overhears two passengers discuss a horse race they plan to fix. Trotter pleads to God to turn his luck around, that, for just once, he wants to be a winner. He then bets $50 on the horse and wins. In a moment of inspiration he decides to thank the fixers and they give him another tip plus a seat at the Jockey Club. Trotter is a hit with the ladies at the club, especially when it seems God is indeed shining upon him and he keeps winning. The strange thing is that his old friends, all losers, seem to resent him. He goes home but even his wife reacts strangely to the new Trotter. When he returns to the track he goes to the stables where he meets a horse, Hot to Trot, and decides to take all his winnings and “let it ride” on Hot to Trot.
Detailed Animal Action Report
Much of the comedy misses its mark and the messages about human nature are garbled. Apart from the horse racing sequences, there are a few scenes of the flamingos at Hialeah Racetrack.
