Detailed Animal Action Report
An owl sits on a tree branch outside a cabin. The branch was trimmed and prepared so the owl would be comfortable. A trainer placed the owl in the tree, attached a leg leash, and remained at the base of the tree to ensure the owl’s safety.
Young boys spear a fish in one scene. Production provided documentation that the dead fish used was bought at a market, and the “wiggling” motion was created by attaching monofilament line to the fish.
A pig waddles in the mud in his pen. Wranglers reinforced corrals and the ground was watered to keep the animals cool. Fresh water and grain was provided for all animals.
Several horses pull covered wagons. Professional riders and wranglers controlled the horse-drawn wagons for the short distance they traveled. Horses were rehearsed and comfortable with the action. Their path was checked and cleared by American Humane’s Certified Animal Safety Representative.
Computer Imaging (CGI) was used to create a scene with bees in a jar, and production provided documentation for “dead” squirrels and rabbits.
