Certified Animal Action Overview

The No Animals Were Harmed™ program monitored key animal action throughout the production to help ensure every scene was carried out with care and respect for the animals involved. From rattlesnakes handled by experienced wranglers to a ram and bull guided by trainers in carefully prepared environments, each sequence was planned to encourage natural behaviors while prioritizing the well-being of both the animals and cast. A trained vulture also worked under the close supervision of its handler, with careful attention given to safe transport, handling and filming conditions.

Detailed Animal Action Report

In the scene when the actors walk into room and the wrangler stands in front of them and he pulls some rattlesnakes out of a barrel. Prior to filming, the wrangler brought snakes to set in individual plastic containers. The trainers used hooks and long snake tongs to handle snakes. The trainer also brought large rubber snakes for the props department. Containers are well marked that they hold rattlesnakes. The wrangler then placed the snakes on the ground.

In the scene where a few actors walk into an office and we see a ram standing there, and the ram runs and slams into them individually, prior to filming the ram was walked to the set by trainers and placed in the empty room. They connected two lead lines to the ram. They then let the ram settle to get comfortable with his surroundings. Before the actors entered, the trainers prepped them on what to expect.,On action, the actors walked in the room and were hit by the ram several times. The trainers were nearby to step in as needed.  The cast picked up cardboard box lids and held them mimicking the to get the ram to hit them.

In the scene where the actor stands in the middle of an arena and they open a chute in which a bull chases him and eventually hits him. The bulls were brought to the set in trailers and unloaded into the pens of the location. The location has bull pens and an arena with a bull chute. There were also water troughs in the pens. Prior to shooting the wranglers discussed exit plans with the actor. Once the bull was let into the arena, the panels and chutes were closed. Once the scene was achieved, trainers led the bull back into his trailer.

In the scene where a vulture snaps at pieces of meat from an actor’s body, the bird was brought to set in a large crate. The transport vehicle was parked close to set. The path from the transport vehicle to the set was free of hazards. The trainers had the sufficient equipment to safely work with the bird. The trainer stood behind the camera the whole time.

Due to late notification and schedule changes, American Humane Association did not monitor all the animal action.
