Detailed Animal Action Report
In the scene where the actor runs around his house searching for his tortoise, runs into a pantry and walks out holding it, prior to filming the scene the trainers showed the actor how to handle the tortoise. Trainers placed the tortoise in a plastic box on the floor of the closet, so he would be easy to locate when the actor entered and grabbed him. On action, the actor picked the tortoise up out of the plastic carrier and walked into the kitchen and exchanged dialogue with other actors while holding the tortoise. After they filmed the scene, they placed the tortoise in its case and placed it in an air-conditioned vehicle.
In the scene where the actor feeds the tortoise in his aquarium, the tortoise was fed the same food he always ate, and again, the actor was shown how to handle the animal.
