Falling Down (1992)

Falling Down is the story of one man who finally breaks under the pressure of todays high stress society and incredible prices. William (Bill) Foster, who has violent tendencies, has been stuck in traffic on the freeway for hours. He finally snaps. He has had enough. All he wants is for the world to get along, people to treat each other with respect, for prices to roll back to what they were in the 1950’s and for his ex-wife, Beth, and Daughter, Adele, to live together as a family again. So, leaving his car in the middle of the freeway, Bill goes on a rampage through the City of Los Angeles, creating havoc and leaving a trail of dead bodies everywhere he goes. He leads a path to Beth’s house in Venice where he will try to convince Beth to come back to him and where the police must try and stop this maniac from killing again.

Animal actors in this production were monitored through American Humane Society’s No Animals Were Harmed® program.

Detailed Animal Action Report

Animal action was minimal. In an opening scene while Bill in stuck in traffic a fly buzzes around in the car, finally landing on Bill’s neck. He swats the fly, but misses. He continues to try and kill the fly, but does not succeed and the fly exits out of the car window. This scene was shot in cuts. When the fly is buzzing around in the car, there is never a fly there. The buzzing sound was added in post production. The fly on Bill’s neck was a fake rubber fly. Beth and Adele have a pet dog who is seen primarily as atmosphere playing outside with Adele and sleeping. Seagulls are also seen in one scene as background.
