Boxing Helena (1993)
Boxing Helena is a bizarre story about obsessive love in which the rejected suitor, a skillful surgeon, amputates the legs of his lover when she is hurt in a car accident. He later amputates her arms and keeps her prisoner in his posh mansion propped up on a box-like perch until she falls in love with him. Dr. Nick Cavanaugh is a highly successful surgeon with a lovely fiance’ and all the trappings of wealth. After a one night stand with Helena, a stunningly sexy neighbor, he can’t get her out of his mind, but she is no longer interested in him. He is obsessed with Helena and becomes a voyeur and spies on her as she has sex with a new lover. He throws a party in the palatial home he has just inherited in an effort to impress her, but she leaves the party with one of his buddies. She is condescending and insulting to him and wants nothing to do with him. Then, as she storms out of Nick’s home in a fit of temper, she is struck by a car and becomes his unwilling patient and prisoner.
Animal actors in this production were monitored through American Humane Society’s No Animals Were Harmed® program.

Detailed Animal Action Report
Animal action is limited to some brief shots of a parrot on a perch in a cage. In order to get some wing movement from the parrot, the trainer merely blew gently on the bird.
