Detailed Animal Action Report
In the scene when we see a rat crawling on the dashboard of a van, the rat was prepped for the action. The prop panel boards were safe for the rat. Two animal trainers were present during filming; they were hidden in the van wearing blue suits. One trainer hid beneath the dashboard, which allowed her to collect the rat.
In the scene where the actor pushes a cart down a residential neighborhood and we see the dog barking on a neighbor’s porch, the dog was a trained dog prepped for the action. Two animal handlers were present during filming. Traffic was blocked during filming. Prior to filming the scene, the trainer instructed the dog to “stay” and gave him a treat. As they filmed, she continued to give the hand command for “stay”. Once they called cut, the trainer gave him water.
