Asylum is a film about Nick, a private detective, who goes undercover and infiltrates Fallbrook Hospital, an insane asylum. Nick is searching for clues to help substantiate his belief that ?, a psychatrist and friend at the hospital, was murdered instead of commiting suicide as everyone believes.

While investigating a clue, which leads him through the ventilation system of the hospital, Nick comes upon a rat in one of the air ducts. When the rat sees Nick he immediately turns and walks away.
