And So It Goes
Detailed Animal Action Report
Throughout the film, the lead actress has a pet dog, who is seen performing such mild action as sitting/lying, being held or petted, and walking/running on or off leash. For all of these scenes, trainers used hand signals and verbal commands to cue the mild action, which the trained dog was accustomed to performing. The barking was also a trained behavior.
In the scene where the actor fires a paintball at a dog, the actor pretended to fire the gun in the dog’s direction, the dog was never in the line of fire.
In the scene where the dog crosses a road and the actor swerves car to avoid hitting him, the trainers prepped the dog to cross the road from point A to point B. Trainer at point B uses a squeaky toy to motivate the dog to run faster. The dog crosses the road from the pov of the driver. The car was going too slow to pose any danger to the dog crossing the street.
In the scene where the actor opens the car door and lets the dog walk out on a leash, the actor was prepped by trainers on how to take the dog out of the car.
In the scene where the dog humps the teddy bear, Charlie and Bambi try several times to get the dog to hump a stuffed bear. The trainers wiped a special scent on the stuffed bear which aroused the dog’s attention, as a result the dog humped the teddy bear.
Due to limited resources, American Humane Association did not monitor any of the caterpillar, pet store or other dog action.
