PALM BEACH, FLORIDA, November 10, 2020 — Members of Washington, DC’s elite Cosmos Club residing in Florida gathered for an intimate salon discussion on Saturday evening. Island resident Professor Paul du Quenoy and his fellow non-resident Cosmos Club members held the event at Swifty’s, New York’s preeminent restaurant for nearly two decades, which is launching the season with a bold menu at the newly renovated Colony Hotel in Palm Beach in a gorgeous outdoor garden setting.
The Cosmos Club is Washington, DC’s premiere private social club. Founded in 1878, it is dedicated to “the advancement of its members in science, literature, and art.” Starting this season, its area non-resident members have begun meeting in Palm Beach as “Cosmos Club South” for an intimate monthly salon dinner and discussion. The group’s convenor is Island resident Professor Paul du Quenoy, a noted historian, critic, and private investor who is also Chairman of Washington’s historic Russian Ball, which will next be held on June 26, 2021.
Cosmos Club membership rolls have boasted Washington movers and shakers, including several U.S. presidents, vice presidents and Supreme Court justices. Dozens of members have won the Nobel Prize, the Pulitzer Prize, or the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Others, like Professor du Quenoy, have been Fulbright scholars.

An upcoming Cosmos Club South event will present Professor du Quenoy’s upcoming new book Through the Years With Prince Charming: The Collected Music Criticism of Paul du Quenoy, due out later this month.
Dr. Ganzert provided guests with an autographed copy of her bestselling new book on animal rights, Mission Metamorphosis, which tells the story of American Humane’s dramatic rescue in the wake of the Great Recession.
