Black Paw Memorial Pin Supports American Humane Society’s Lifesaving Rescue Team

American Humane Society, the United States’ first national humane organization and the world’s largest certifier of animal welfare practices, announced today that Black Paw Memorial Pin has made a generous commitment to support the organization’s rescue program.

“We are deeply thankful for Black Paw Memorial Pin and its support of our lifesaving rescue program,” said Dr. Robin Ganzert, President and CEO of American Humane Society. “Our work would not be possible without contributions from generous supporters like Black Paw Memorial Pin who enable us to help animals in need.”

In addition to its annual support of the American Humane Rescue Team, Black Paw Memorial Pin is also hosting a fundraiser in Palm Beach, Florida on Thursday, January 23 at Haven Palm Beach. Donations from Black Paw Memorial Pin’s event will support the American Humane Society’s rescue efforts.

“Our partnership announcement could not have been more timely,’ said Hilarie Viener, Founder of Black Paw Memorial Pin. “With the devastating fires raging through Southern California, there are untold numbers of animals who have been displaced or more tragically, perished, and we are standing right beside our friends at American Humane Society to provide support and services to those who have experienced heartbreaking loss.”

Black Paw Memorial Pin is a new donor to American Humane Society, supporting the Rescue Team’s work to expand and assist even more animals in need in the wake of natural disasters. Both organizations share a deep commitment to serving animal welfare and strengthening the animal-human bond. Black Paw Memorial Pin provides support and comfort to those who have lost their beloved pet. Funds from their donation will go directly to proactively supporting American Humane Society’s rescue efforts and programs.

American Humane Society carefully monitors disaster situations around the country and works with local officials for requests for assistance before deploying resources in the most effective and efficient way possible. Providing care for stranded, injured, and lost animals in the wake of a natural disaster requires around-the-clock attention to the physical and mental well-being of each individual animal.

The American Humane Rescue Team was founded more than 100 years ago during World War I, when the U.S. Secretary of War requested assistance caring for injured horses in war-torn Europe. Since then, American Humane Society’s animal first responders have been on the ground for several disasters throughout our nation’s history, from Pearl Harbor, to 9/11, to the 2024 Hurricanes Helene and Milton and beyond.
