American Humane Supports PACT Act Preventing Animal Cruelty and Torture

WASHINGTON, DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, October 25, 2019 — Here is a statement from Robin R. Ganzert, PhD, president and CEO of American Humane, supporting the PACT Act (“Preventing Animal Cruelty and Torture”):

“American Humane is pleased to see Congress acting on animal abuse,” said Robin R. Ganzert, PhD, president and CEO of American Humane. “Bipartisan legislation known as the Preventing Animal Cruelty and Torture Act (PACT Act), introduced by Reps. Vern Buchanan (R-FL) and Ted Deutch (D-FL), would make horrendous acts of animal cruelty a federal crime and increase both funding and the ability to pursue culprits across state lines. Those convicted would face felonies, fines, and up to seven years in prison. We support this important and long-overdue legislation and urge the Senate to pass it without delay.”
