WASHINGTON, DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, April 7, 2020 — American Humane, the country’s first national humane organization, today announced that Pet Food Pantry OKC is a recipient of American Humane’s Feed the Hungry grant. Located in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Pet Food Pantry OKC delivers free pet food and supplies to low-income seniors, veterans, homeless and those in domestic violence shelters so they can feed and care for their companion pet while helping them afford their own food and medical supplies.
“COVID19 has impacted us like it has impacted everyone else,” said Candace Beaty, Executive Director of Pet Food Pantry OKC. “We are now looking to expand our services to those who are impacted the most; those who may be quarantined, those who may be hospitalized and those who may have lost their job. Everybody needs their pets right now, and it’s so important to us to keep the pets in their loving homes. We are doing what we can in order to ensure that no pet needs to be surrendered or given up. Thank you American Humane for helping us with this new initiative we’re taking on.”
Pet Food Pantry OKC was selected as a recipient of the Feed the Hungry grant because of its dedication to making a difference in the lives of pets and their people by providing pet food to low-income seniors, the homeless and veterans. Because of this organization, fewer animals will end up in rescues, shelters or on the streets of Oklahoma during the coronavirus pandemic.
