American Humane Presents Godspeed Horse Hostel and Humane Society with Feed the Hungry Grant

WASHINGTON, DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, April 7, 2020American Humane, the country’s first national humane organization, today announced that Godspeed Horse Hostel and Humane Society received a grant from American Humane’s Feed the Hungry fund. Located in Amenia, New York, Godspeed Horse Hostel is a multi-species animal welfare service rescue that provides food, medical attention and placement solutions, free of charge, to large domestic animals, farm animals, companion animals and wildlife.

“On January 2, Godspeed took in 38 animals; 21 horses, two cows, six sheep, two goats and seven cats,” said Mia Genovesi, Director of Godspeed Horse Hostel. “We want to thank American Humane for the Feed the Hungry grant that could not have come at a better time. We’ve had these animals since January 2, and we need to feed them all. We are very grateful for the grant.”

Godspeed Horse Hostel’s intake facility is limited to animals seized in cruelty cases awaiting disposition, such as the 38 animals mentioned. The hostel offers additional resources to companion animals in the community including spay and neuter services as well as rabies vaccinations and licensing. The team also provides referral and on-site solutions for relocation, control and rehabilitation of wildlife. Godspeed Horse Hostel will use the grant money to continue to provide sustenance, treatment and protection to the animals in their care.
