American Humane Presents Bay Area Pet Adoptions with Feed the Hungry Grant

WASHINGTON, DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, April 23, 2020American Humane, the country’s first national humane organization, today announced that Bay Area Pet Adoptions is a recipient of American Humane’s Feed the Hungry grant. Located in San Leon, Texas, Bay Area Pet Adoptions is a no-Kill shelter, pet rescue, and adoption organization.

“On behalf of the Bay Area Pet Adoptions team, we would like to thank American Humane for their Feed the Hungry grant,” said Kristi Wilkerson, Animal Care Manager at Bay Area Pet Adoptions. “This grant is going to help us with much-needed supplies both here at the shelter and for our community programs. Thank you.”

Bay Area Pet Adoptions shelters companion animals that have been rescued from kill shelters, animal control facilities and individuals, until permanent homes are found for them. Bay Area Pet Adoptions also provides education and community outreach, focusing on ways to reduce the number of unwanted companion animals and in turn, the number of animals euthanized. The team educates the community about the responsibilities of owning a family pet, including the importance of spaying/neutering, proper vaccinations and the prevention of heartworms and other parasites. Bay Area Pet Adoptions additionally offers a low-cost vaccination clinic. The organization relies on donations from the public in order to house, feed and medically care for the animals in its program. The Feed the Hungry fund will allow the shelter to continue to provide optimal care during the coronavirus pandemic.
