WASHINGTON, DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, November 1, 2021 — American Humane today launched its inaugural television, aptly titled American Humane in Action, to showcase the numerous and dynamic ways the historic organization’s programs save and improve the lives of animals around the globe. The five-part series provides viewers a with a firsthand look at how the organization’s groundbreaking programs affect change in the real world, from animals rescued from perilous disasters to endangered species on the brink of extinction.
“For more than 145 years, American Humane has been First to Serve animals, whenever and wherever they are in need,” said Dr. Robin Ganzert, president & CEO of American Humane. “I hope families across the country will learn about the humane movement through American Humane in Action and join our compassion movement to help build a better future for animals and people.”
Hosted by Dr. Ganzert, the series features Hollywood stars – four-legged and two-legged – leading conservationists, frontline rescue workers, those battling to keep our country safe and those who ensure a humane food supply. For American Humane supporters and volunteers, there are sure to be both new and old faces.
Each of the five episodes shines a spotlight on a different program area: Rescue, Military, Conservation, Hollywood and Farm. Viewers will be taken on a journey, from groundbreaking conservation work done by the world’s leading zoological institutions to heartwarming stories of animal search and rescue conducted under dangerous circumstances.
American Humane in Action marks an innovative and iterative achievement in highlighting humane issues on a national stage for the organization. Last month, American Humane celebrated its 11th annual Hero Dog Awards, which aired on Hallmark Drama after a nationwide campaign, with more than 400 nominations and 1.2 million votes. Last year, American Humane released its inaugural feature-length film, Escape from Extinction, which debuted as the #1 documentary in America. Escape from Extinction, narrated by Academy Award-winner Dame Helen Mirren, won accolades on the festival circuit, including Best Environmental Film at the Log Angeles Documentary Film Festival, and is now available to stream through video on demand.
