
Judy Palermo
Biography
Judy Palermo is the Chief Communications Officer at American Humane, the country’s first national animal welfare organization. In her role, Judy spearheads American Humane’s communications strategy, engaging with members of the media to support the group’s efforts to promote the safety, welfare, and well-being of animals.
Previously, Judy was the director of media relations for the Indianapolis Zoological Society, where she managed all aspects of public relations for the Indianapolis Zoo, the Indianapolis Prize—an animal welfare award—and the Global Center for Species Survival. Other past roles include producer, executive producer, and senior executive producer at television stations in Dallas, St. Louis, and Indianapolis, respectively.
Judy is also an award-winning journalist. Accolades include eleven Emmy awards, the National Edward R Murrow Staff Award, National Headliner Staff Award, Society of Professional Journalists Award, multiple Associated Press awards and two Best in Show Public Relations Society of America Pinnacle Awards.
