Dave Acup
Biography
David Acup is Chief Marketing Officer at American Humane, where he oversees branding, marketing, events, and communications. As an accomplished leader in nonprofit marketing and branding, Dave plays a critical leadership role in defining American Humane’s marketing for the future.
David Acup’s 30-year career has been defined by disruption, innovation, and an unwavering drive to inspire action. Most recently, Dave spent over 15 years at Environmental Defense Fund (EDF) in various marketing and fundraising leadership roles. Dave created the organization’s first audience insights team to guide marketing and communications. Dave was instrumental in exploring Artificial Intelligence’s potential for EDF’s marketing and fundraising. He also introduced leading-edge strategies that influenced the organization’s approach to marketing, performance management and staff development.
Before dedicating his talents to environmental causes, Dave made his mark at major brands like America Online (AOL) where he helped increase membership, double the revenue from local and national digital advertisers, and launch AOL’s high-speed internet service.
Apart from his professional experience, Dave draws inspiration for his work at American Humane from his two rescue cats. He is based out of the national headquarters office in Washington, D.C.
