Meet Goosey

Goosey is an AKC certified therapy dog with Bayou Buddies Pet Therapy as well as R.E.A.D. (Reading Education Assistance Dogs) whose greatest talent is making people feel seen.

Whether visiting the Baton Rouge General Hospital cancer patients, the student athletes at LSU, the BTR Metro airport, elementary children or nursing home residents, he instinctively gravitates toward those who may be lonely, anxious or in need of companionship.

His specialty is working with older adults and hospice patients, where his gentle nature often creates deeply meaningful moments. With nothing more than a nuzzle, a cuddle or his quiet presence, Goosey helps people feel valued during difficult times. Among his most memorable visits was the opportunity to be one gentleman’s final visitor, offering comfort and companionship at the end of his life. That moment reflects what makes Goosey so exceptional.

Once given a second chance himself, he now spends his days ensuring others never feel forgotten. Through every visit, Goosey delivers dignity, companionship and unconditional affection to the people who need it most.
