Tiny Tina was able to have a Second Chance because of YOU

Tiny Tina had already endured more suffering than any dog ever should. Abandoned and left to fend for herself, she had become so desperately hungry that her tiny body was wasting away. By the time rescuers found her, she weighed only 17 pounds. She was severely dehydrated, dangerously underweight and suffering from the devastating effects of prolonged neglect.

No one knows how long Tiny Tina struggled alone.

But it’s believed that while trying to survive, she was forced to eat anything she could find just to quiet the unbearable hunger.

Even after she was rescued and finally began receiving the nourishment she desperately needed, the damage wasn’t over.

Tiny Tina suddenly became gravely ill.

The foreign object she had swallowed while trying to survive became lodged inside her body, requiring emergency surgery to save her life. Without immediate medical intervention, Tiny Tina likely would not have survived.

For many rescues, an unexpected medical crisis like this can feel impossible to overcome.

That’s why Second Chance Grants exist.

A Second Chance Grant from American Humane Society helped make Tiny Tina’s lifesaving treatment possible, easing the burden of extraordinary medical expenses so she could receive the care she so desperately needed.

And look at her today.

Tiny Tina has reached a healthy weight. She loves riding in the car, spends her days with her foster family, has become a playful social butterfly and even “talks” in her own funny little language whenever she wants attention. The frightened, starving dog who once fought just to survive has been replaced by one full of joy, love and hope.

Tiny Tina’s story is proof that even after unimaginable neglect, healing is possible.

But every day, more abused, neglected and abandoned animals arrive needing urgent medical care. They deserve the same opportunity Tiny Tina received.

Your generous gift today will help provide lifesaving Second Chance Grants for more animals in desperate need while supporting all of American Humane Society’s life-changing programs.

Together, we can give more animals the second chance they deserve.

The Power of a Second Chance

American Humane Society’s Second Chance Grants fund emergency surgeries, life-saving treatments and recovery care for animals rescued from heartbreaking circumstances. Whether it’s a dog pulled from a neglectful home, a cat left injured on the street, or a horse starved and forgotten — this program gives them the medical support they need to survive and thrive.

But none of it is possible without the generosity of people like you.

When you donate, you help fund critical care for animals who might otherwise be lost. And your gift helps American Humane Society continue responding wherever the need is greatest — so no animal has to suffer simply because resources weren’t there.
