Help Bring Military Working Dog Joker Home

For nearly seven years, Military Working Dog Joker served with loyalty, courage and unshakable dedication. Trained as a Patrol Explosive Detector Dog, Joker’s mission took him across the Pacific and into some of the highest-stakes operations in military service—from Secret Service details to presidential sweeps.

But now, with age and chronic back and hip issues taking their toll, Joker has earned his retirement. And there’s only one place he truly belongs—back in the arms of his first and most devoted handler, TSgt Dakota.

This Easter, help reunite Joker with the person who meant everything to him.

From Guam to a Forever Home

Joker’s journey began at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam in Hawaii, where he served with distinction for nearly seven years. A vigilant protector and elite detection dog, he participated in the Rim of the Pacific Exercises (RIMPAC), Cope North in Guam and missions supporting the President, Vice President, First Lady and foreign dignitaries.

But Joker was more than just a working dog—he was a lifeline.

When Dakota was first paired with Joker in 2019, he was going through one of the hardest chapters of his life. Working with Joker gave him purpose, steadiness, and strength. Through long days, intense missions and high-pressure moments, their bond only deepened.

Though Dakota eventually became a trainer and kennel master and transferred to a new base, he never stopped thinking about Joker. And Joker never stopped waiting.

Now, their long-awaited reunion is finally in reach.

Joker never volunteered for this mission—he was selected. And he gave it everything he had. He deserves more than a kennel or a quiet end behind base gates. He deserves treats, freedom, comfort and love. He deserves a home.

With your generous support, you can help bring Joker back to Dakota—the handler who loved him first and never stopped fighting to bring him home.

Your gift today won’t just change Joker’s life. It will also help reunite more military working dogs with the people who understand and love them most and support all of American Humane Society’s life-changing and impactful programs.

This Easter, honor Joker’s service—and help give him the homecoming he’s earned.
