This Thanksgiving, American Humane is Grateful for You

Thanksgiving has arrived, a special day in which all Americans gather to give thanks. And today, American Humane gives thanks to you – our loyal supporters. Because of you, we directly touch the lives of some one billion animals each year through our programs – more than any other humane group, and we not only help twenty times as many animals as we did ten years ago, but we have also developed new protections for millions more around the globe.

When the deadly coronavirus pandemic hit and threatened the lives of both people and animals, American Humane sprang into action to protect and help millions of our best friends in what would soon prove to be their worst times. Through our Feed the Hungry COVID-19 campaign, we’ve given grants to 77 animal shelters across 35 states, providing more than 645,000 meals to hungry, homeless animals. Many of these organizations were impacted by not only COVID-19, but also disastrous wildfires and destructive hurricanes.

In addition to our Feed the Hungry emergency grants, American Humane has continued to execute on all its programs despite the novel coronavirus – training lifesaving service dogs for veterans suffering from the invisible wounds of war, transporting retired military dogs thousands of miles back home to where they belong, and deploying on urgent animal rescue missions.

2020 has been a scary, unprecedented year, but American Humane is grateful for our fellow animal lovers who have helped us to continue our critical work. If we don’t step up and care for these animals, who will?

Thank you, and Happy Thanksgiving from American Humane!
