American Humane Society has mobilized our dedicated Rescue Team to Los Angeles to help take local dogs and cats out of harm’s way from the devastating wildfires.
This weekend, the American Humane Society Rescue Team worked alongside local organizations to transport over 80 adoptable animals to shelters in Washington and Oregon, to make space in Los Angeles area shelters for animals that have been displaced by the wildfires.
Our Rescue Team’s dedication and love for animals was the heartbeat behind this coordinated effort, making it a quick and flawless process. The transport mission ensured these animals, who had been through so much, could safely arrive at their next stop before their forever home.
These adorable cats and dogs are now in shelters in the Pacific Northwest and are in need of adoption into a loving home. As pets are adopted or fostered, more space is created for animals who have been displaced due to this heartbreaking wildfire.
American Humane Society has created an Emergency Relief Fund for Animals to take immediate action to support animals in urgent need in Los Angeles. Donations will help provide transportation and life-saving resources like food, water and essential supplies.

Thank you again to Wings of Rescue, Paws for Life K9 Rescue and our LA staff for their hard work and coordination to transport these animals to safety.
