September is National Preparedness Month, and in honor of the occasion, American Humane and Anheuser-Busch have joined forces to support pet-focused relief efforts and raise awareness of the importance of disaster preparedness for both people and pets.

This year, deadly wildfires and destructive hurricanes have ravaged the globe, making it more important than ever before to be prepared for disaster. And it is our duty to protect not only ourselves, but also those who rely on us most – including our pets. In an emergency, every second counts and it’s critical that you are prepared to protect your entire family.

Whenever and wherever natural or manmade disasters strike, the American Humane Rescue team carefully monitors the situation and prepares to deploy resources in the most effective and efficient way possible. Tending to stranded, injured and lost animals in the wake of a natural disaster requires 24-hour care to help ensure the mental and physical health and wellbeing of each animal. While the American Humane Rescue team is ready to deploy any of our emergency vehicles at a moment’s notice to help animals in need, we want to ensure that all pet owners are prepared, too.

Throughout September, American Humane and Anheuser-Busch have shared “Prepare for Your Pets” disaster preparedness resources across their social media channels to educate people on how to prepare themselves and their pets in times of disaster. The new partnership also included a grant from the Anheuser-Busch Foundation in support of American Humane’s disaster response efforts. Through its longstanding partnership with the American Red Cross, Anheuser-Busch has a proud history of disaster relief and preparedness efforts including its flagship emergency drinking water program.

Ensuring you have a plan in place that includes your pets will not only help save the lives of our beloved animals but also the lives of owners, volunteers and first-responders. We are grateful for Anheuser-Busch’s support in helping to communicate the need to “Prepare for Your Pets.”
