Pre-Treatment Program Curriculum Guide: Motivational Interviewing

The Motivational Interviewing curriculum focuses on the concepts of addiction as a brain-chemistry disease and the six stages of change, and teaches participants how to recognize and demonstrate reflective and strategic responses to addiction. This two-day training session encourages open dialogue and participation through individual, small group and whole group activities and discussions.

Pre-Treatment Program Project Replication Handbook

This replication handbook describes the strategies of the Idaho Pre-Treatment Program to improve families' access to timely substance abuse assessment treatment. This handbook includes a detailed implementation report with suggestions, comments and recommendations for agencies and organizations interested in replicating the Pre-Treatment Program.

Pre-Treatment Program Final Evaluation Report

This Evaluation Report reviews the findings and implications of the Idaho Pre-Treatment Program and addresses the following questions:

  • Are parents in the program more likely to access and complete treatment for alcohol or other drug addiction?
  • Are children in the program more likely to be safely reunified with their parents or be able to remain at home?
  • Are families in the program less likely to experience subsequent maltreatment?
  • Will the work of substance abuse liaisons through the program positively affect the collaboration between the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare and substance abuse treatment providers?"

Recovering Together Program Curriculum Guide: An Education Support Group for Children

This curriculum guides child welfare professionals and substance abuse treatment providers in helping children and adolescents process their experience of living with a substance-abusing parent, and express and manage their feelings in healthy ways. To effectively encourage each child to work toward breaking the cycle of addiction and abuse in the family, this program focuses on a new topic every week for 16 weeks.

Recovering Together Program Curriculum Guide: Substance Abuse Treatment for Women and Their Families
