Shelter Operations School for Managers

Finally -- a class about the business of managing a shelter! An average day in an animal shelter is about crisis management. Whether it's a broken power sprayer or an outbreak of disease in the kennel or a public relations issue, it is a challenge for the most competent manager to get back to the basics of shelter management. This class is designed to provide Shelter Managers with tools that will help them develop a solid, well-managed foundation for their shelter operations. Topics include employee health and safety, personnel management, operational manuals, employee handbooks, and innovative shelter programs that are working for organizations across the country.

This information-packed, two-day seminar for managers is a continuation of the Shelter Operations School, and topics will build on policies, procedures, and programs introduced during the first level. We recommend the Shelter Operations School as a prerequisite for this course.
