Hosting a Workshop


How to Register for Animal Welfare Trainings

To register simply download the registration form, type in your information, and hit "submit" on the bottom of the form. A representative of American Humane's Training and Professional Development staff will contact you with additional information on times, location, and lodging.

Contact us if you have questions about training opportunities offered by American Humane.

Note: The deadline for registration for any class is two weeks prior to the scheduled start date.

Registration is not guaranteed until you receive a letter of confirmation. It is recommended that you register early as there may be a maximum number of participants allowed, and after a workshop is filled it may close.

Acceptable methods of payment include check, Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express. If your agency is an Associate Member of American Humane, you may qualify for a discount on training. To qualify, you will need your American Humane membership identification number and membership renewal date. Please contact our Training and Professional Development staff if you have questions.

Refunds: Tuition, minus a $25 service charge, will be refunded for emergencies and illness.

Cancellations: American Humane reserves the right to cancel any training, in which case tuition will be refunded in full. American Humane is not responsible for lost travel expenses, such as airfare, due to cancellation.


Training Scholarships

American Humane is pleased to provide limited scholarship opportunities. These opportunities are open to American Humane Association Members only and cover the enrollment fee for attending a workshop. The attendee is responsible for travel, lodging, food, and any other expenses related to attending the workshop.

Scholarships are available for the following workshops:

  • Customer Service for the Animal Welfare Professional
  • Euthanasia by Injection
  • Euthanasia by Injection for Horses
  • Managing Compassion Fatigue
  • National Fundraising School
  • Playful Parrots: Bird Care
  • Shelter Operations School (SOS)
  • Shelter Operations School for Managers

To apply:

  1. Download, complete and submit a scholarship application.
  2. Completed applications must arrive at American Humane at least two weeks prior to class date. Late applications will not be considered.
  3. Applicants will be notified two weeks after the due date.

Host a Workshop

Want to make the best use of your staff’s time and your money? Host an American Humane workshop or arrange for a private one and save travel time and money.

You can choose from the following options.

Hosting a Workshop

Hosting a workshop allows you to afford an outstanding training in your area while sharing the cost with other organizations or individuals. Your organization arranges and oversees the facilities, advertising, reservations and other logistics such as catering and lodging and American Humane supplies the curriculum and instructor and will publish information about the workshop on this website and in other written communications.You can join with other organizations in your area or region to provide your employees the very best in training. Any revenues in excess of American Humane fees and related expenses is retained by the organizing agency or agencies.

Hosting a Private Workshop

For private workshops, American Humane supplies the curriculum and instructor to the attendees you select.You can join with other organizations in your area or region to provide your employees the very best in training. American Humane does not promote private workshops to outside agencies via the website or in print.
