Training in Your Community

Is your organization interested in hosting a Police Officers and Canine Encounters workshop in your community?

American Humane is happy to bring POCE to you with two options for on-site trainings: a private workshop specifically for your staff, or an open event hosted by your organization.

Private Training

A private training is advantageous if you have a large number of staff you wish to attend training, or you want to have the workshop address topics specific to your agency or region. When hosting a private training, your organization is responsible for:

• American Humane’s contract fee
• Materials fees
• Expenses: roundtrip airfare, hotel room for 2 nights, rental car (unless other transportation is provided)
• Training room(s)
• Training room setup (tables, chairs, easel, additional equipment, materials, animals, and areas for a specific workshop)
• Snacks and lunches
• Information and contacts for lodging

Open Training

When your organization hosts training, people from outside your organization are invited to attend. Animal care and welfare professionals, law enforcement officials, and even emergency personnel would do well to have this comprehensive training. With some networking to local agencies (even post office employees!), filling a class to 20 students is usually not difficult. You arrange for:

• The training room(s)Training room setup (tables, chairs, easel, additional equipment, materials, animals, and areas for a specific workshop)
• Snacks and lunches
• Information and contacts for lodging
• A guarantee of a minimum of 20 attendees

For trainings hosted by your organization, American Humane will send out brochures announcing the workshop to other organizations in your region (for those department names you provide). We will post the dates to the American Humane website. American Humane will administer enrollment in the class and collect registration fees.
