Animal Rescue Training for First Responders

The course offers skills to:

  • Understand basic companion animal communication
  • Safely diffuse potentially hazardous situations involving dogs
  • Understand animal handling for cats and dogs
  • Recognize when ASAR teams need to be contacted

Training components include:

  • Human-animal bond
  • When to call ASAR
  • Canine aggression
  • Overview of canine communication
  • Animal approach and handling techniques
  • Bark...Stop, Drop and Roll™ (BSDR) technique
  • Human body language
  • Cat behavior
  • Overview of handling other types of pets
