Biography

Jan McHugh-Smith is the CEO of the Humane Society of Boulder Valley, a private nonprofit organization. The Society is an open admission shelter that cares for 7,800 homeless animals annually and provides animal control services to the local community.

With twenty-one years of animal welfare, Jan has worked in many different positions as an animal care and control professional. She chairs the American Humane Shelter Services Advisory Committee and served on the board of the Society of Animal Welfare Administrators and Colorado Federation of Animal Welfare Agencies. Her education includes bachelor’s degrees in biology and music.
