The American Humane Association’s Be Kind to Animals Week® has been celebrated since 1915, and the highlight of this annual observance is the Be Kind to Animals™ Kid Contest, which recognizes children and teens who show extraordinary kindness to animals and go out of their way to help them.

Later this year, the American Humane Association expects to convene a national symposium of the best minds in the nation in the area of dog training and dog-friendly behavior modification, with a goal of improving the lives of companion animals and strengthening their relationships with the humans who care for them.

The American Humane Association is already preparing to celebrate Be Kind to Animals Week®, which will take place May 2-8, 2010. A highlight of the event is American Humane’s Be Kind to Animals™ Kid Contest, which recognizes humane leaders of tomorrow by honoring kids who make a difference for animals today.

The Denver-based American Humane Association and the University of Denver (DU) have established the American Humane Endowed Chair in DU’s Graduate School of Social Work (GSSW).
